Does this sound like you?
Do you wake up every morning with a groan, snooze the alarm 6 times and would rather stay in bed all day?
Do you often feel moody, tired and lacking that zest for life?
Have you become intolerant to foods you used to enjoy?
Or have you been given a diagnosis by your doctor that you don’t really understand, and you’re not sure of your next steps?
Do you want to take control of your health, and become the best version of you that you can be?
Why, I can help you with that!
I’m Victoria Heath, I’m here to be your guide on your journey to health.
I’m a Sydney naturopath who is bursting with passion and enthusiasm to help you reach your health goals.
I am also dedicated to sharing and blogging about all things health related – food, lifestyle, chronic health conditions, current scientific research and everything in between.
I am passionate about women’s hormonal health, digestive issues and helping you overcome stress and fatigue.
I can treat a range of health issues, read more on that here, but my area of expertise lies in these three areas. The reason being is that I have had personal experience with all these issues, read more on that below.
Some examples of the types of conditions are:
- Female hormonal imbalance such as PMS, PCOS or irregular / absent cycles
- Stubborn weight loss, particularly in women
- Adrenal fatigue, unrelenting fatigue caused by chronic stress
- Thyroid condition’s, such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
- Digestive disturbances like bloating, constipation, diarrohea, IBS and SIBO
- Gut related autoimmune diseases such as coeliac disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease
- Food intolerances and food chemical sensitivities, such as salicylate sensitivity or histamine intolerance
- Fertility, preconception, pregnancy and post-natal care
- Chronic stress and related conditions
My own health struggles are what inspired me to learn about natural medicine and become a naturopath.
I had a very unhealthy, unbalanced start to life.
For the first 23 years of my life I avoided vegetables like the plague, drank copious amounts of cordial and diet coke, and battled binge eating disorder.
My adult life was comprised of working 12 hour days as a tax accountant. Constant overwhelming stress. And frequent weekend drunken benders to escape it all.
The worst part was that I did not like myself myself very much, and was always berating myself for not being good enough.
However, in my mid-20’s I started the slow and steady transformation journey to turn myself around. I put myself on the path to become healthy in mind, body and spirit.
I very slowly (over many years) cleaned up my diet, improved my lifestyle, began practicing meditation and yoga, started to push back against my negative thoughts, and embraced radical self love and kindness.
The consequences of my earlier lifestyle choices (and my genetic predispositions) resulted in the onset of several chronic illnesses…
A thyroid autoimmune condition called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, adrenal fatigue, histamine intolerance, digestive disturbances similar to IBS, and a history of anxiety and depression.
Working through these and dealing with them on a daily basis has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life. To be honest, some days I just wanted to crawl up into bed and never get out again. Some days, it just kind of sucked.
Despite all this, I am GRATEFUL for my health struggles. As these experiences have made me better equipped to serve you.
I am grateful for all I have learned during my journey and all of my hardship up until this date.
They are the driving force behind my passion for natural health, my calling to help other people, and the deep understanding and empathy I have for those who are similarly suffering.
With me as your naturopath, you can rest assured you will have someone in your corner with a deep understanding of what you are going through, and who will be by your side every step of the way.
And I am pleased to say that, after a lot of work on healing my body, my health has greatly improved.
My autoimmune condition is in remission, my adrenals have begun to heal, my histamine intolerance has vastly improved, I have more energy and enthusiasm for life than I have had in years, and my depression and anxiety are for the most part under control.
I did this by implementing all the knowledge I have learned from my studies, my experience treating clients and with guidance from other naturopaths and holistic health specialists.
The fact that I have had so much success in treating myself with naturopathy has really cemented my love for this modality.
Now, the official stuff, my qualifications.
I completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy), which is a 4 year full-time degree. This degree teaches you all about the science of what happens in the human body, evidence based nutritional medicine and herbal medicine, and so much more.
Want to know more about what naturopathy can do for you?
I look forward to working with you in the future, and helping you achieve the health and happiness that you deserve.
